Invertebrates are absolutely vital to the habitats, flora and animal life of the Reserve. With a healthy population of invertebrates in each habitat, life can thrive. Willow holds a particularly large number of invertebrates and these in turn support a substantial range and population of bird species. Wherever you look on the Reserve the invertebrates form the basis of all that flourishes in that habitat, whether it be woodland, pond, grassland, heath or wetland.
Of course butterflies are invertebrates and the Reserve has recorded several species including Ringlet, Large Skipper and Orange Tip.
