Volunteers do just about anything! From clearing and maintaining pathways, rejuvenating clogged ponds to seriously hard work on special projects. They also help to run the Reserve on a daily basis by showing visitors around, helping with social events and fund-raising. The volunteers come in all sorts and sizes, and everyone is welcome. Some of our volunteers have real conservation skills and some are just prepared to muck in and get their hands dirty - sometimes very dirty!
There is always a list of things that need to be done in and around the Reserve. Each winter there is a programme of maintenance, which may involve some very large projects for which we are obliged to use contractors. There are also some smaller jobs, which can be tackled by one or two people in an afternoon. The work is often hard but can be highly rewarding.
Whatever your skills and no matter how much or little time you can commit to, we would be more than happy to talk to you and explore how you can help us to manage the Reserve.
If you would like to become a volunteer, please contact us on 01748 831113 or 07754 270980
