Feed the Birds event

Several families came to take part in our 'Feed the Birds' event at Foxglove today. Here you can see some of our younger supporters mixing up their special recipes! Some of the adults seemed to be having just as much fun!

The tasty treats were taken away for the garden birds at home and others were put in the trees around the field centre. Below you can see some of the delights that await the Foxglove birds!

On a more serious note the last winter (2008/9) was one of the harshest we’ve had for many years, forcing many more birds into our gardens and putting out food in the garden can be a real life saver for our feathered friends.

Many thanks to Paul, Sue, Elizabeth, Raymond and Andrew for all their help today and to all the children who took part.

Foxglove Covert Local Nature Reserve is now OPEN

The security gate and it's safety features are to be working, so we're reopening to the public.

However the intercom and remote gate opening system is currently non-functional. Entry and exit to the reserve will therefore take place via key fobs which will be issued to visitors when they sign in at the Cambrai Lines front entrance. These fobs can be used to open the gate when entering and exiting the reserve. They must be returned to the front entrance pass office upon exiting the reserve.

Please note access will be limited by the number of fobs available. You may therefore be turned away at the pass office if all fobs are in use at that time. Please only collect one fob per visiting group and ensure you enter and exit the reserve together.
