Common Toad - Bufo bufo
This is a BAP listed species. During spring Toads can be seen walking back to the ponds to spawn.
Palmate Newt - Lissotriton helveticus
Smooth Newt - Lissotriton vulgaris
Common Frog - Rana temporaria
The frogs return to the ponds from mid February, depending on the weather. Their deep croaks can be heard as you walk through the Scrapes. The many habitat piles across the reserve provide hibernation sites.
Great Crested Newt - Triturus cristatus
This is a BAP listed species.
