The white nodding heads of the Cotton Grass can be seen through the scrapes and up in the wetland pools during the early summer. The seeds are dispersed by the wind.

Spindle - Euonymus europaeus

The branches of this tree are at right angles to the main branch. The flowers are inconspicuous but the fruits in autumn are bright pink and when they burst open the orange testa can be seen.


Hemp Agrimony - Eupatorium cannabinum

You can see this tall plant growing around the ponds in the scrapes in late summer.


Common Eyebright - Euphrasia nemorosa

This flower is semi-parasitic on clovers and plantains. It flowers from late May through to September.

This seedling was found on the moor, far away from the parent plant. Possibly carried there by a Grey Squirrel or Jay?
